Sarah Ripmaster was supposed to fly from New York to Chicago on Saturday. American Airlines changed her flight, but not her two sons. The boys were supposed to be on a different flight to Chicago, but were left on their own. The mother says she is devastated.

Ripmaster and his sons were supposed to fly out of L.A. on Sunday. The boys' flight was delayed due to a problem with the flight tracking system. They were finally able to get on the same flight on Monday. They are now on their way back to the United States.

Ripmaster is an Executive Platinum member of American Airlines. She said she was most surprised that she wasn't offered any form of compensation. "I'm very frustrated, but mostly wonder what people that don't have resources do in this situation," she said. American Airlines didn't immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
