Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average indicated an open 207 points or 0.6% lower. The index fell 176 points Thursday to close at 36,113. Markets were also digesting weaker-than-expected retail sales in December. JPMorgan Chase (ticker: JPM) reported a profit of $3.33 a share.

Wells Fargo (WFC) reported a profit of $1.38 a share on revenue of $20.9 billion. The stock fell 3.4% after having risen 5.7% for the month leading into earnings. Markets were also sifting through economic data Friday.
